WARM UP LESSON

Let's kick things off with a warm-up exercise that will get our creative juices flowing! We'll start by playing around with a variety of colors and mark-making techniques without any set plan in mind. As we experiment with painting in layers, we'll also explore using different mediums to create unique textures and effects. Together, we'll continue to add layers until we bring it all together, resulting in a beautiful and vibrant bouquet in a vase that we can proudly display. Get ready to unleash your creativity and have some fun!

Lesson 1 - Unforgettable

In our first lesson, we will begin by looking at a photo of a room for inspiration. I will share the things I look for to gather ideas when conceptualizing art for a space. We will then use the inspiration to paint a large 30x40” floral that will “fit” into our inspiration room. This lesson is really going to teach you how to look at your personal space, and create a painting specifically for that room! You will learn how to pick out accent colors to create something that is sure to make your guests say, "Wow!". This will also be content that you can use in future lessons and artwork!

Lesson 2 - Dreams of Blue

In our second lesson, let's explore the beautiful shades of blue together! We'll incorporate some of the techniques we learned in our warm-up and use different sized brushes to create loose, abstract-style florals on a tall, narrow canvas. This lesson is all about learning how to create values and add interest while sticking to a limited palette. Together, we'll experiment with various brushstrokes and techniques to create a stunning painting you’ll be excited to hang!

Lesson 3 - Light up the Night

In Lesson 3, get we'll be paint a large 30x40" canvas, starting with a base layer of deep, rich shades of blue. Then, we'll add some greenery and experiment with a fun, unconventional tool to create stunning, extra-large blooms with plenty of texture. You'll learn how to layer colors and add texture to give your painting depth and dimension.

Get ready to bring some drama and excitement to our artwork in Lesson 3!

Lesson 4 - Blossoming Together

In Lesson 4, let's get ready to blossom together! We'll be working on another 40x30" canvas, but this time we'll turn it vertically to mix things up and create a stunning composition. We'll use brushes and a large trowel to layer on extra-large flowers, creating depth and dimension in each petal. You'll learn how to work with different tools to achieve different textures and create a painting that is both bold and beautiful.

Lesson 5 - The Golden Hour

In our final lesson, let's have fun with warm yellows, greens, and neutrals while painting a 30x40" canvas. To start, we will use a roller to lay down a base layer, then use big brushes to create large, loose, abstract flowers. This lesson is all about exploring and being creative! Don't forget to choose colors that complement your space. We will put all the mark making and painting tips we've learned together to make something truly unique.
